Subject: Poplar Island Sightings from November 07, 2011
This report is submitted on behalf of Jan Reese of Talbot County, who
continues to periodically survey the flora and fauna of the Paul Sarbanes
Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island.
The summary of bird observations that follows was taken by permission
from the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and MD Port Administration, November
2011, Fauna Monitoring Report for the Paul S. Sarbanes Ecosystem Restoration
Project at Poplar Island.
Highlights include high numbers of Pied-billed Grebe, Brown Pelican,
Ruddy Duck, Northern Harrier, and presence of American Golden Plover,
Short-billed Dowitcher, Royal Tern, American Robinand Yellow-rumped Warbler.
Weather: Hazy fog early am, Clear thereafter, Temp: degrees F 50-58
