Hi all,

I spent the morning at Assateague and the highlight was watching a steady stream of Northen Gannet flying from north to south, plunge diving as they went, fairly close and straight out from the south beach parking lot. At one point I counted what was right in front of me and there were 107 in view at the same time. They continued to stream by for the entire fifteen minutes I was watching, so I'd guess there had to be upwards of 300 in that short period of time. There were numerous Common Loon, Black Scoter and other Scoter I couldn't identify because of glare. The Gannet were not close enough to get good pictures with my 300mm lens, but plenty close to get tremendous looks through my scope. It was fun to watch. There were several dozen Surf Scoter and at least nine Horned Grebe that I saw off the Bayside parking area, along with a half dozen or so Common Loon. Lots going on, but no rarities turned up.
