My work took me out on the boat today in the north and central portions of Eastern Bay (Q.A. Co.). Highlights included 2 Northern Gannets seen this morning, not far south of Kent Narrows. Later on, at least 2 Brown Pelicans were seen flying. These may have been viewable from the Romancoke pier, but they were still a couple miles off shore. Otherwise waterfowl were unimpressive but I did see my first Long-tailed Duck of the year as well as about 40 Bonaparte's Gulls. Throughout the day I saw about 8-10 Common Loons, 1 Red-throated Loon, 1 Surf Scoter, a few Forster's Terns, ~ 50 Buffleheads, a few small flocks of Scaup spp. (about 40 Lesser, some un-ID'd), and the usual gull species. With temps in the mid to upper 60s even with the 10-knot wind, it was hard to believe it was November. On the way back across the bridge I saw at least half a dozen Tundra Swans with the Canada Goose flock at Terrapin Beach, right next to the west bound span.
