I've seen smaller numbers of both finches recently. The goldfinches were ignoring the thistle feeder in preference to hulled sunflower so I took it down.

For two days (Nov 17 &18) I briefly had a first-year purple finch -- very bright white breast, clean lines, distinct eyebrow, peaked head shape, and not made welcome by the house finches. This is much later than the latest eBird record.

Also, I've noted at least one male house finch with eye disease. I wonder if others have seen either of these.
