While conducting our HawkWatch at Cromwell Valley Park today, Friday Nov. 25th, we decided we had enough counters on hand to attempt to count the number of Crows in the established daily flight line. Andy Smith, Joe Stag and I took turns counting for about 15 minutes at a time. The flight began slowly at 1:30 PM, started to increase by 2:00, and by 2:30 became a steadily increasing flow, peaking between 3:00 and 4:30 PM. At 5:03 PM we counted the last Crow seen. TOTAL - 14,577!!

I hope we can repeat this count again in the next month or two. It will be interesting to see if the numbers fluctuate greatly.

The HawkCount today was one of our best in weeks. Thanks to everyone who joined in!!!

CVP HawkWatch - November 25th, 2011- 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM - 8 counters at various times with over 20 visitors

Redtails - 61

Redshoulders - 18

Sharpies - 12

Bald Eagle - 1 migrant, 5 or 6 lingering near Loch Raven Reservoir
