I just finished reading The Big Year, but haven't seen the film yet.

All,
I know this movie has caught the interest of the birding community.
Unfortunately the rest of the world ignored it. I saw a list of this years'
movie flops on line the other day and sure enough the Big Year topped the
list. The comments said that they think it was mis-promoted. It was intended
to be a comedy. The ads came off like it was some sort of a sob story like
the bucket list. Steve Martin has always been a good draw in comedies, but
he's out of his element in anything else. Lately he has been getting more
notice for his banjo playing than acting. Did anybody besides me know he won
a Grammy in the bluegrass category? He really does pick better than most
people realize. When he did standup everybody thought the banjo was just a
prop. Sort of like Jack Benny's violin. Most people didn't know Jack could
actually play it pretty well.

I did Piney Run Park yesterday and finally found some HOODIES and
BUFFLEHEADS along with some RINGNECKS back in a cove near the dam. Not a lot
of ducks over there.
