Yesterday (12/2) at dusk I saw two Short-eared Owls near Shorters Wharf: one visible from the canoe trail ramp; the second over the marsh east of Maple Dam Road about a half mile north of Shorter's Wharf. Also at the boat landing were 3 Northern Harriers including a male, calling Clapper and Virginia Rails, Common Yellowthroat, Swamp, Song and Savannah Sparrows. At Blackwater Refuge in the woods across Key Wallace drive from the old visitor center were several Brown-headed Nuthatches and a Pine Warbler.
