Today (12/4/11) I birded several areas in the western side of the county in search of goose flocks. By far the best waterfowl concentrations were at Eastern Neck NWR, most of the ducks were concentrated in the two coves on either side of the boardwalk. I did not see any white geese and the only non Canada Geese were two Cackling Geese at Chesapeake Farms and one at Great Oak pond. The waterfowl numbers from Eastern Neck are listed below.

Tundra Swan - 111
Canada Goose - 93
Red-breasted Merganser - 7
Hooded Merganser - 2
Ruddy Duck - 101
Lesser Scaup - 62
Greater Scaup - 55
Scaup sp -700
Ring-necked Duck - 118
American Wigeon - 200
Northern Pintail - 45
Common Goldeneye - 4
Bufflehead - 142
American Coot - 269
Redhead - 35
Canvasback - 95

American Black Duck - 119
Mallard - 44
Gadwall - 261
