Saturday there was a Purple Sandpiper at Flag Ponds Nature Park in Calvert
County. It was feeding alone on the riprap just north of the power plant.

Some other sightings from the day spent birding Calvert with my brother
Mike:

Eastern Phoebe - 1 - Battle Creek Cypress Swamp
Cacking Goose - 4 - Jefferson Patterson Park
Canvasback - 1 - Jefferson Patterson Park
Greater Scaup - 4 - Jefferson Patterson Park
Horned Grebe - 22 - Jefferson Patterson Park
Forster's Tern - 2 - Jefferson Patterson Park
Brown-headed Nuthatch - 8 - Lloyd Bowen Road
Red-throated Loon - 20 - Flag Ponds
Northern Gannet - 6 - Flag Ponds
Bonaparte's Gull - 1 - Flag Ponds

On Sunday, Mike, John Hubbell and I birded the boardwalk area (esp. the
entrance road) of Piscataway Park in Prince George's County, looking for
the Northern Shrike reported to eBird on the previous day. Despite a
dedicated effort, we weren't able to find it, but the area looks promising.
