This is the Voice of the Naturalist, a service of the Audubon Naturalist
Society. This report was completed Tuesday, December 6 at 10 AM. 

Top birds this week are AUDUBON'S (western) YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER in MD,
WESTERN TANAGER in VA, LARK SPARROW and LE CONTE'S SPARROW in MD.

Other birds of interest include EARED GREBE, SNOWY EGRET, GLOSSY IBIS,
COMMON GALLINULE, BLACK-NECKED STILT, MARBLED GODWIT, SHORT-EARED OWL,
LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE, NORTHERN SHRIKE, OVENBIRD, IPSWICH SAVANNAH SPARROW,
LINCOLN'S SPARROW, LAPLAND LONGSPUR, and DICKCISSEL.

An AUDUBON'S (western) YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER was a surprise at Bayside
Campground, Assateague SP (Worcester Co MD) on Dec 3 and 4. In Williamsburg
VA, a WESTERN TANAGER was seen Dec 2-4. On Nov 29 and Dec 3, Assateague SP
hosted a LARK SPARROW, and a LE CONTE'S SPARROW was seen by many between Nov
29 and Dec 4 at Swan Harbor Farm in Harford Co MD.

An EARED GREBE was at Point Lookout SP (St. Mary's Co MD) on Dec 3 and Dec
5. Deal Island WMA (Somerset Co MD) hosted two SNOWY EGRETs on Dec 4. Also
on Dec 4, a GLOSSY IBIS was spotted at Broadkill Beach, Sussex Co DE. COMMON
GALLINULEs were seen at two different locations in MD:
on Nov 29 in Worcester Co between Eagles Landing GC and Assateague SP, and
on Dec 5 at Point Lookout SP.

Bombay Hook NWR (Kent Co DE) hosted a late BLACK-NECKED STILT on Nov 30, and
a MARBLED GODWIT, also late, on Dec 5.

SHORT-EARED OWLS were seen, on Dec 1-3 at Blackwater NWR (Dorchester Co MD),
and on Dec 2 at Swan Harbor Farm. A LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE was seen on Nov 29,
Dec 2, and Dec 5 near Hagerstown MD, along Hagers Crossing Rd (Washington
Co), and a NORTHERN SHRIKE was spotted in Piscataway Pk, Prince George's Co
MD, on Dec 3. 

A very late OVEN BIRD was seen well near the National Geographic Explorers
Hall in NW DC on Dec 3.

On Dec 3 at Assateague SP, an IPSWICH SAVANNAH SPARROW was spotted. A
LINCOLN'S SPARROW was seen Nov 30 near Milton DE (Sussex Co) around Deep
Branch Rd & Oyster Rocks Rd. Near Oland Rd & MD Rte 85 (Montgomery Co), a
LAPLAND LONGSPUR was spotted on Dec 4. At Hains Point, SW DC, a DICKCISSEL
was seen on Dec 4 and 5.

West Virginia Birding List, and DE-Birds list servers.
