The new New Yorker (Dec. 12) "Talk of the Town" section contains
a brief piece about birding in Central Park with Henry Paulsen
~ ~ yes, that one, the former Treasury Sec'y, CEO of Goldman Sachs,
and architect of the Sept. '08 bailout).

The writer captures the feel of a walk with a knowledgeable birder
under dreary conditions, throws in a few metaphors & similes drawn
from bird sightings, captures the birders' tendency to fall into
trading
anecdotes about old bird sightings, . . . and leaves us wishing we
could just finish off a walk by walking into a waiting limo.

One does wonder, though, about that reference to a calling whip-
poor-will
	last week . . .?
