Hi Everyone,

As some of you may know, I've been working on a DC Big Year for 2011.  I've just entered the final month, and I'm hoping to get 4 more species to close out 2011 with 220 species.  The  area I have to work with is everything in DC - including DC waters of the Potomac River from just north of Chain Bridge roughly down to the Wilson Bridge.

Here are the "gettable" birds I think are still in the realm of possibility (and * for those most likely):

White-fronted Goose
Snow Goose
Brant
Red-throated Loon
*Scotter (any 3 species)
Great Cormorant
Northern Goshawk
Rough-legged Hawk
Virginia Rail
Thayer's Gull
Iceland Gull
Glaucous Gull
Barn Owl
*Eastern Screech-Owl (I've tried so far with tapes - but no luck yet?!?)
Snow Bunting
*Horned Lark
*American Tree Sparrow
Crossbill
Pine Siskin
Redpoll

NOW FOR A FAVOR:

For anyone who regularly birds DC I'd greatly appreciate a heads up as soon as possible if you see any of these birds.  Either posting ASAP to MDOsprey, eBird or emailing me directly would work.  I don't want to publically post my cell number, but if you will be birding DC enough, please contact me offline and I'll be happy to share it.

Hey, and even if you don't usually bird the District consider doing so - maybe you'll help me go over 220 for 2011!

Thanks everyone!

P.S. Thanks so far to the all the great DC birders whose birding has already contributed to the 216 species I've seen so far!
