Thought I'd take a break from Xmas cards and head
toward the North Pole ~ well, at least North Baltimore . . .

Thanks to Joe Hanfman's directions (12/9) to the
Nutmeg Mannikin, I managed to find the boardwalk
in Lee Park near Lake Roland.
Walking left, away from the dam, I paused a little past
the second overlook (benches) and, after scanning both sides,
found it foraging down on the left amid the swampy underbrush
around 11:30 this morning. With backlit sun he was much
	prettier than I'd expected.

A half an hour later, in front of the Hunt Valley I edged my car
(5 mph at most) toward a few gulls on the pavement and found
	the Black-headed Gull.

Since it's Christmas I suppose I ought to confess,
~that, actually, neither of these birds was calling , , ,
but I was humming as I drove out of sight . . .
