Birded Beauvue Ponds this morning. There was nothing extremely out of the ordinary, although some species were present in relatively large numbers. By far the most numerous species of waterfowl was Ring-necked Duck. There were also large numbers of Gadwall and Mallard, in addition to Ruddy Duck, Tundra Swan, and Hooded Merganser in smaller numbers. Highlights were a drake Redhead and two hens mixed in with the large raft of Ring-necked Ducks on the middle pond. Also of note was a lone drake Bufflehead and relatively high numbers of Pied-billed Grebe (8). In addition to waterfowl, there were also a few American Coot, and impressive numbers of Field Sparrows (I estimated around 60) and Eastern Meadowlark (30).
