Hi Everybody:

Dave Powell and I spent the most of the day in Calvert and St. Mary's counties. We started just before daylight on the Fishing Creek boardwalk in Chesapeake Beach (Calvert Co.). While there we heard one SORA calling towards the back of the wetland. We did not see or hear any other rails that have been previously reported. Just after sunrise we found the NASHVILLE WARBLER off the left side of the boardwalk after it T's. We were unable to find the Orange-crowned Warbler.

We spent about an hour on Lloyd Bowen Rd. and heard several BROWN-HEADED NUTHATCHES. Dave also spotted a flock of AM ERICAN pIPITS in a field which we estimated to be in the 40 - 50 range.

Our last stop was in St. Mary's County at the Elms Park. We were successful in spotting the BARROW'S GOLDENEYE in the same area where previously reported. It took a while because most of the Goldeneye we first saw were preening and it was not easy to find. We were there about 12:30 PM. On the way in we saw a Winter Wren along the path.

Enjoying the mild weather...Happy Holidays to all!
