Since several people asked me to let them know about any nearby SNOWY OWL, I
will tread on Norm's list just to say there is one just north of
Shippensburg, PA near the junctions of Mud Level and Duncan Roads. I'm not
giving any more directions than that - google it.

And take your best scope and all of the clothes you own - it is somewhat
brisk up there. The owl thinks it's on a tundra and it feels like one.
Actually it looks like farm fields to me but what do I know. I will add that
Laura and I got fairly good looks from a Rails to Trails thing I think was
labeled as The Cumberland Trail or something like that - it's just down
Duncan Road from the intersection mentioned above. The owl does move around
so I can't guarantee it will be visible from the trail when you go. A guy we
met there said it had been SW of the intersection when he got there and then
flew over him (Wow!Musta been a sight!) and landed on a fence post back over
on the SE side, near where we saw it. It was on the ground sitting near a
rock on a ridge the whole time we saw it. Parking is there but is somewhat
precarious in spots. Be prepared that the locals all drive big pick-ups or
even bigger tractors. Give them a wide berth.

Thanks to Mike O'Brien for the tip.

And the owl's name is Harry. Not after Harry Potter but our own Harry
Armistead.

How do I know this? Simple.
I made it up.
