Subject: 2012 Great Backyard Bird Count

Hello fellow birders,

The 15th Annual Great Backyard Bird Count will be held Presidents' Day
Weekend, February 17 - 20. It would be helpful if you would publicize the
Count among your members if you haven't already done so.

The National Audubon Society and Cornell's Lab of Ornithology created the
Count as one of the first of a growing number of citizen science activities.
As such it not only yields valuable data to ornithologists about bird
whereabouts but also provides citizens a way they can protect the
environment while having an enjoyable experience.

It can also be a vehicle for instilling in people of all ages an enduring
concern for the natural environment.

You can find information, and print or request hard copies of fliers at
www.birdcount.org. There are also lots of interesting links to features
such as bird ID tips, activities for kids, and a slide show for
presentations about the Count to groups.

Thank you!

Elaine Pardoe
Great Backyard Bird Count Ambassador
