Until about a week ago, I had not seen any Goldfinches since leaf-fall last Autumn.  Then suddenly, there was a flock of at least 20, probably a lot more, near Lake Claire.  Since then, I have seen one or two at a time on the hulled sunflower feeder in my yard, about half a mile from the lake.  Having walked a lot of fields without seeing any for 2 months, I am thinking that they flocked-up and went somewhere, rather than just staying out of my backyard.  I don't remember them leaving at all last year.

Anybody have knowledge of their actual movements?
