As Joe mentioned, this bird has been hanging around Bladensburg for a
little while now (at least three months). It seems especially reliable in
the rain, when it will perch on a branch near the marina, waiting for the
weather to clear. On my last encounter (on an especially windy day), I was
provided with spectacular up-close views as the falcon zipped up and down
the river, practically skimming the water surface. Amazingly, the Canada
Geese and Mallards did not care one bit, even as the falcon's wings nearly
made contact with their heads!

My hope is that it has been, or will begin to, nest in the county, but
considering the park's location, it could easily just be a visitor from
nearby DC. I've only been aware of one nesting pair in Prince George's in
the time that I've been birding, and I've never actually seen those
individuals. Most of my observations come during migration, and I'm always
happy when they do.
