Dave Powell and I also birded on the Eastern Shore yesterday. We started at Pickering Creek where the Virginia's Warbler was cooperative for a little less than 10 minutes, right around 8am. A little more detail:

The bird began chipping in the weedy field near the corner of the entrance road and impoundment. It then flew across the field and briefly landed in a tree right along the middle of the trail. Next it went towards the parking area, where it landed in front of Jim Stasz and Paul Pisano. It moved around in this area for a few minutes before flying back towards the impoundment. From here, we watched take off in an extended flight and land halfway down the entrance road. As others have said, this bird does not sit still, but you can keep track of it by listening for it's chip note, which it gives almost constantly.

Afterwards, Dave and I also birded the goose flock on Polks Road in Somerset County. We could only find 2 Greater White-fronted Geese, but we did see 4 Snow Geese and 3 "Richardson's" Cackling Geese in the flock.

We birded Deal extensively for over 2 hours due to the amazing number of birds present. Here are some highlights:

American White Pelican - continuing bird seen from the gravel pile pull-off of Riley Roberts Road before you reach the main marsh.
Great Egret - 14
Snowy Egret - 3, including one bird with a pale base to the bill which gave it a bit of a Little Blue Heron impression. Confirmed as a Snowy by bill shape, black legs with contrasting yellow feet, and distinctly yellow lores.
Tricolored Heron - 11
Orange-crowned Warbler - 1, Jim Stasz gave us directions to this bird which was surprisingly easy to find. As you are heading out Riley Roberts Road, the bird was about 100 feet from the end of the brush on the impoundment side. There were a few cedar trees in this area. The bird began chipping immediately when I started pishing.

Good birding!
