Hi all,

Barry and I (and three excited dogs) went to Wheaton Regional Park today to see if we could find some FOX SPARROWS, as this is a great area for them. We were successful, seeing at least eight of the beauties -- possibly more but it's hard to bird with bouncy schnauzers on a lead. We also had our FOS EASTERN TOWHEE, a pair, and they are probably recent arrivals since winter walks in the same area were devoid of this species. Two pairs and a lone female Eastern Bluebird were investigating the nest boxes, the males singing and flying about. Two Winter Wrens and a single Brown Creeper were seen as well. On Pine Lake, not too much except the usual Canadas and a lovely male Wood Duck. Maybe this species will breed this year; usually the wood duck boxes end up being used by Tree Swallows.

A promising start to the year at WRP! (Full eBird list below) .
