Not altogether pleasant, i agree, but it does demonstrate that the change of seasons is making its inevitable progression day by day.  No idea what species is responsible for this, perhaps Am. Robins are already nesting in the evergreens.  My first full-blooming daffodil was on 2/28 in a protected, south/east facing area of the yard.  And, although i have looked, my garter snakes haven't made themselves know to me so far this year.
