I took an early (for me!) drive this morning to Shady Oaks Turf Farm in AA County. Driving east on the road with the Shady Oaks Marina sign (NOT the farm road), the fields to the south held more than 30 killdeer as well as four E. Meadowlark. One of the Meadowlarks put on a show, with the morning sun lighting up his yellow chest and throat.

There were also a flock of American Pipits - about 18, more or less, in the field closer to the road. And a bluebird or two scattered about, as well as more common species in the field and neighborhood.

If you go, a scope is a good idea to get the birds in the far end of the field.

Also, the folks at the Turf Farm itself have never seemed to appreciate cars on the farm road, so the public road a bit further south from the farm road is the best place to bird.

I've never seen more than 1 Pipit at a time - so this was a good find, for me!
