Hey Everyone,
The latest update to the 2012 MD comprehensive list has been posted to Bill Hubick's web site (http://www.billhubick.com/docs/MD_Comp_List_2012.pdf).  According to my estimate, MD birders have observed 213 species in 2012 through the month of February.  With a revised tally of 203 observed species in January, we added 10 species to the annual list in February, including a probable first state record (pink-footed goose) and confirmation of another probable state record (Virginia's warbler).  With the barnacle goose in January, its been a phenominal start to 2012!!

At the end of the 2012 Comp. List, you'll notice I've inserted another spreadsheet that will be used to track the number of species observed each month.  Hopefully this will provide a good perspective for those that keep month lists and for those with an interest in annual patterns of MD bird occurance.  Our tally for the month of February was 196.  A little short of January, but its certainly been quality over quantity.

Many thanks to everyone that provided information and corrections to the January list.  Please take a look at the update and month list and let me know about any errors or missing records.  As usual, let me know if you observe a species that is sensative (e.g., owls) or on private property and are hesitant to post to Osprey or e-bird.  I'll include these in the tally, but will not provide any information beyond the county level.

Cheers,
Dave
