Hi Everyone,

Would anyone be interested in leading a C&O Canal birding field trip and helping out a nonprofit group that shares interests with MOS?

I have recently been in contact with the C&O Canal Trust (www.CanalTrust.org), the nonprofit partner of the C&O Canal National Historical Park. They are currently working on the spring issue of their print newsletter, Canal Quarterly, and have decided to emphasize the C&O Canal's importance for birds and birding. I have provided some useful resources, including eBird bar charts and other materials, and Mike Ostrowski contributed some eBird metrics on the species most commonly reported at hotspots along the Canal.

Excited by their research, the C&O Canal Trust would like to schedule a birding field trip from Pennyfield on Saturday, May 12. If you are interested in leading the trip, please contact Jenna Warrenfeltz () and Becky Curtis ().

It seems like an excellent outreach opportunity, as well as a chance to get to know another group doing good work for preservation of natural and historical sites in Maryland and D.C. Thanks!

Good birding,

Bill
