I forgot to include in my bird report from the Piscataway Park area
of PG County yesterday (3/18) something that should be of interest to
Lepidoptera lovers.

When the sun finally came out in early afternoon, we were walking the
trails of the National Colonial Farm and were treated to an
astonishing number of male Falcate Orangetips. Almost outnumbered
the birds there and certainly outnumbered all other butterfly species.

If you are not familiar with this species, and I freely admit that I
wasn't, go to

http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/species/Anthocharis-midea

and find out all about it. It's small but gorgeous.
