Middle of the night report. Took off work today (or was that yesterday ) to enjoy some nice weather and was not disappointed . Beautiful day out . Intended to go straight to Pickering Creek but couldnt resist pitstops along the way . Quick check of CBEC (Horsehead) Pine Warblers , huge raft of Ruddy duck (my estimate 1000), 33 American Wigeon . and few others  . Lists below .
Oh yeah ... was not able to find  Virginia Warbler . Headed straight to the path next to the entrance road. Went a little past the observation deck and then come back to observ. deck . Noticed the big patch of bare ground and believed i was in the correct area as there was noone else around to verify .. After about an hour i headed back to the car to wait and see if i run into another birder and they could help me be sure i was in the correct spot or should i have been somewhere else. The reports on the board in the Visitor cabin were a little confusuing . Hadnt waited long when birder named Roger came along and was heading to same spot so i was now sure i had been in right spot. Roger disappeared and i looked around for another half hour without success. Only chippy  , pippy , spippy , gippy peeps chips were from Tree Swallows hovering about all the nest boxes. A couple peeps from sparrows. ugghhh ! Another rarity missed !
Still great day out with lots of birds.
