While my morning walk around upper Beach Dr. was light on migrants, it
turned out to be a great day for finding nests of large charismatic
birds!
I was especially happy to find the Wood Duck nest, as it is the first
"natural" one I've found. I am really surprised at the height, almost
20m up in a sycamore. Her kids are gonna have quite a leap, and then
unfortunately will have to navigate through the hundreds of off-leash
dogs that pervade that part of the park.
Also not very far away I found a Red-shouldered Hawk nest
(unfortunately found them in a "private moment" atop the nest), and a
Pileated Woodpecker nest. Also 2 Robins were in the beginning stages
of building.

Other than that, Hermit Thrush, a tiny male Sharpy, and Brown Creeper.

Good Birding
