Jim,
Early nesting records for Mourning Doves in Maryland:

The earliest was a bird sitting on a nest at Towson on Jan. 31, 1976. Large
young were photographed in the nest on March 1, and both young left the
nest on March 4.

The early egg date is from Seneca, a nest with two eggs on Feb. 12, 1972.

Other early nestings are an occupied nest at PWRC on Feb. 10, 1973, a nest
with two eggs at College Park on Feb. 17, 1965, a nest with young at PWRC
on Feb. 25, 1972, and a nest with one egg and one young in Prince George's
Co. on Feb. 26, 1968.

As for this year, there was an occupied nest in Garrett Co. on March 5.
