Greetings!

This morning the dawn chorus was extra loud at my home (Hances Point, south of North East in Cecil County).

Amoung the usuals I heard a Hermit Thrush sound off with it's flute-like song. There were also a pair of Wood Ducks on the large red oak tree that stands tall over the cove in front of the house. They whistled and flew down to the water when I started my car...

The "usual" singers in the yard this morning included winter residents like White-throated Sparrow, Dark-eyed Junco, and the afore-mentioned Hermit Thrush. Singing summer residents included Chipping Sparrow, Carolina Chickadee, Tufted Titmouse, Downy Woodpecker, Red-belied Woodpecker, Robin, American Crow, Osprey, and Canada Goose. Additionally, a Belted Kingfisher was rattling away as he hunted above the Mallards which were starting to stir.

Good Birding,
Chris Starling
