Kevin Smith, Joe Kramer
Weather:
Partly cloudy becoming sunny then becoming mostly cloudy; 55-69 degrees;
good to excellent visibility; winds northwesterly and strong, 9-18 mph,
gusting to 30 mph
Raptor Observations:
Very enjoyable day. Sharpies all day. All but 2 American Kestrels after 2
pm daylight time and 22 from 2-3 pm; Kestrels were often in groups of 3 or
4, once 6, and Merlins sped by as if there were no winds getting in their
way. Now have more kestrels than all of last season.
Non-raptor Observations:
Sora still calling; 2 Northern Gannets; adult Little Blue Heron, first of
season; upper hundreds of Tree Swallows. Yesterday, Bill Hubick returned
late in the day to find another gannet and the first Caspian Tern of the
season.
