Hi All,
We just had a young male Blue Grosbeak in our yard in western Kent
County near Worton Creek this afternoon. Walter first heard it's
distinctive "tink" calls. We searched for the bird for some time before
finding it sitting in a red cedar. It was a brown bird with the typical
oversized two-toned bill, buff upper covert bar and lower cinnamon bar,
some blue feathering coming in on the upper breast. It sang tentatively
several times, the usual Blue Grosbeak meandering scratchy warble. By
far the earliest we've ever had around here.
Good Birding,
