Hi all,

I drove up this morning and had the Common (Eurasian) Teal along with a number of Green-winged Teal at the pond Nancy describes in her message below. You really need to pull well off the road on the west side (same side as the pond) as it IS heavily traveled and has no paved shoulder. Although the bird could be seen well with bins, a scope allowed better looks especially of the more-prominent facial striping of the Common Teal.

All -

The Eurasian Teal, first found on April 6, is back at the University of Md Central Farm. He was spotted late this morning with 16+ Green-winged Teal in the large pond visible from Folly Quarter Rd.

Viewing: Access to farm property is restricted so please view from the road. I was able to pick him out with bins and take photos without getting out of the car. Folly Quarter is well-traveled in both directions, and there are no paved shoulders. Pull off on the grass as far as possible - not worth getting hit. I'm guessing if the flock of teal is still there, so is he.

I'm uploading documentation shots on my Flickr site: http://www.flickr.com/photos/34312269@N04/sets/72157629429623952. It's interesting how the extent of the white horizontal stripe changes.

Cheers,
