Having decided I lacked the strength to spend the day at Hart-Miller (sorry, Kevin), I decided to make a genteel trip to Swan Harbor in hopes of finding Lin Just's bitterns. I heard one AMERICAN BITTERN but no Least. The KING RAIL called spontaneously, and what I believe was a VIRGINIA RAIL sounded off a little later.

While taking a break in the blind preparatory to returning to my car, I saw two GLOSSY IBIS fly directly in front toward the northwest. I thought they might have landed in the pond behind the trucking company, but I was not able to find them. This species seems to make an appearance here about this time most years but it is not common in the county.
