I tried for the Ruff at Jackson Landing during my lunch break from
11:45-12:30 without success. I spent most of my time scanning from atop the
hill near the small white house. This gives you a great vantage point to
look down on the bay. However, after several times seeing Greater
Yellowlegs pop up and then quickly disappear into the forest of
spatterdock, I realized that the available habitat for the Ruff is massive,
and only a small fraction of that habitat is visible. As usual, patience is
key.
