An early lunchtime walk in the drizzle was worth it, with more variety of
sparrows than I've ever seen there. There was a Field Sparrow, a Song
Sparrow, a Swamp Sparrow, lots of White-throated Sparrows, the usual House
Sparrows (if they count), and a lingering Junco and large numbers of
Towhees (>10 and I don't think I have ever seen one there before),. Other
interesting birds: a low fly-over osprey, FOY chimney swifts, lots of FOY
House Wrens and FOY catbird (lots of thrashers too), 2, Wigeon, 2 DC
cormorants.
No warblers though. And no herons.
All the best,
Richard Edden
