I received permission from the landowners to walk the mowed portion of the field this evening as it was getting dark. Jim Stasz, and Bob and Susan Hood joined Kim and I as we were able to hear at least 2 singing male Henslow's Sparrows. One male repeatedly sang from the mowed grass and was joined by another. While I was recording the birds, which were giving a variety of calls, see the sound link below, Kim, Bob and Susan witnessed the birds copulate!

I'll be back to talk to the landowner tomorrow to inquire about the plans for the field.

Here is an audiofile link with several typical songs, a few flight calls, a couple alternate songs, and some twittering.
