Went to Frederick County again today to Point of Rocks and Landers. There were PROTHONOTARY WARBLERS singing at both spots. Very hard to find here in Howard. A BALTIMORE ORIOLE and YELLOW-THROATED VIREOS were a first of the year for me.

Most exciting were the odonates with the finding of an adult Chesapeake Snaketail .....Ophiogomphus species..(yet underscribed) only the second ever found in MD.

There were hundreds of Cobra Clubtails emerging also. Quite a spectacle. An interesting fact I learned was that these emerging dragonflies are a favorite food of nesting birds....and these are emerging early. How might this effect the breeding birds?

Went to Daniels area of patapsco this evening trying to hear the morning’s Worm-eating Warbler but no luck. There were about a dozen WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS along the river but they are certainly dwindling.
