The traditional "May Count" (now aka "International Migratory Bird Day") is coming up on Sat, May 12. You're invited to take part in the PG County portion of the count, just as many of you have in the past. If new to the count, there are still many areas of good habitat needing coverage. You may wish to join a group already in place - some areas need more birders or team members; or try an otherwise uncovered site.

There are no set starting or stopping times. You may count for just a few hours in the AM, or go all day. Night birding is especially welcome. You can form your own teams. PG Co has compiled lists of ~ 160 in the past; individual lists can well exceed 100 for a full day in a diversity of habitats. As you may know, May Counts take place over much over most of the country all on the same day, so that the pattern of migration on that day emerges. (While e-bird is similar, the advantage to the May Count is that so many birders are out on the very same day).

Please reply you'd like to participate.
