Many new arrivals this morning in the scrubland section of Patapsco Valley
State Park.

Today's FOY (8): Great-crested Flycatcher, Blue-winged Warbler (heard),
Black-and-white Warbler, Black-throated Geen Warbler, Swamp Sparrow,
Scarlet Tanager (heard), Indigo Bunting, Orchard Oriole

Recent arrivals (last week): Gray Catbird (4/26), Wood Thrush (heard 4/26),
Baltimore Oriole (4/25)

Other arrivals not present today: Ruby-throated Hummingbird (4/25), Eastern
Kingbird (4/25), Northern Parula (heard 4/26), Ovenbird (heard 4/26)

At first, I wasn't absolutely certain about the bunting: a very loud Brown
Thrasher was drowning out the song. My attempts to shush the thrasher were
an abysmal failure. Finally I caught sight of a breath-taking blue dot at
the tip of an Autumn Olive and confirmed my Indigo Bunting of the year.

Other bird news: Wild Turkey still calling many mornings. Four bluebird
nests with chicks. Both Tree and Barn Swallow are infectiously busy.
