Hi all,
It's interesting that other folks who visited Susquehanna State Park today
during the same time I was there did not have any Yellow-rumped Warblers.
Over in the far northeastern corner of the park on the other side of Deer
Creek I found hordes of them! For about a quarter mile it seemed like every
tree was loaded with them and their songs and calls filled the air.
However, this was the only section of the park where I saw or heard them
today, so maybe other people just didn't venture over to that area.
Otherwise my list was pretty similar species-wise to others reported from
Susquehanna today. I did have two male Common Mergansers resting on rocks
out in the river. Lin Just also reported a few there on Friday, so maybe
they were two of the same birds. I'm guessing these are breeding birds? It
seems really late for them to be migrants, and I know that they've started
breeding farther south along major rivers, including the Susquehanna.
Good birding,
