Norm has kindly given permission for this request.
Howard Youth, who many of you may know, is in the final stages of pushing
out a book entitled, "Field Guide to the Natural World of Washington, DC"
It will be published by Johns Hopkins Press. Howard is now in Ottawa with
his family; his wife works for the embassy.
Many months ago I agreed to furnish all the photographs for this book at
no cost because "there was no budget for photography." I am down to the
last group of tree and shrub images and am having a little difficulty locating
appropriate specimens.
If you know of specific locations of the following trees/shrubs, I would
appreciate being advised off line.
Ailanthus
Chestnut Oak
Mulberry
Black Cherry
Box Elder
Spicebush
Arrowwood and Mapleleaf Viburnums
Japanese honeysuckle
To be useful, such trees and shrubs need to be away from other plantings
and away from telephone and electric wires. The middle of a playground
would be an ideal location! The closer they are to Darnestown, the better, as
I am not even receiving expenses for this work.
Thanks for your assistance.
