How surprised was I when at the very end of my morning yard survey, just as Harry Fink showed up to walk down into the Patapsco with me, I heard a Mourning Warbler singing at the front corner of my property from a tangled mulberry along the fencerow that borders our private road. I couldn't believe my ears and didn't trust them either, so I had Harry record the song on his iPhone and then we diligently searched for about five minutes until the bird moved slightly and offered us good looks. We then got some diagnostic but not great photos, which can be found on my flickr site at:

We then had a decent but not great day along the Patapsco River downstream of Woodstock Road. 12 other warbler species altogether but not huge numbers like earlier this week.
