Hi all,

Much better morning than recently, despite cold start. We birded WRP and Brookside Gardens, then after a stop home to let out dogs, over to Sligo Park (north of University) although by then it was getting breezy and quiet. Best birds for us were a FOS beautiful singing male CANADA WARBLER at WRP and a FOS LINCOLN'S SPARROW at Sligo. In all, between both sites, we had 12 species of warbler, several of them in multiples.

One disturbing thing, the bluebird nest boxes (5 of them) at Wheaton Park, down behind the white house, have been removed -- posts and all -- since our last visit. One of them had an active Bluebird nest, at least as of our last visit, and the nest removal violates Federal law. The male Bluebird was hanging about, very anxiously flying from perch to perch. I called WRP Manager about this (in my capacity as Montgomery Bird Club Conservation Chair,) left a message, and have not heard back yet. I don't think it was vandals since they would have been more likely to have simply smashed the boxes -- these had had the posts dug out as well. Thus I suspect park management, but the reasoning escapes me!
