MD Osprey:
FYI ... I just received a single-observer report of an adult male
Mountain Bluebird seen yesterday (05/15) at noon near Bowie, Prince
George's County, MD. It was reported near 2000 Mill Branch Road,
which is between Queen Anne's Bridge Road and Rt 301. The observer
stated. "Habitat was on the edge of woods near open farm fields. Bird
was spotted on the road and then took flight along the edge and into cover."
The observer characterized himself as "not an expert birdwatcher" but
is familiar with Eastern Bluebirds, of which he states this was not one.
I checked Google Earth and this appears to be an area with farmland
and open fields. I would guess that stopping along this road, which I
believe is a fairly low-volume traffic road, should not be an issue,
as long as the shoulders are dry.

Usual MD/DCRC disclosure: As the committee Secretary, I frequently
receive various reports of rare birds. I pass through some of these
real-time reports so that others can decide as to the validity and
whether to pursue or not.
