On my way to Soldier's Delight to pick up an fos Hooded Warbler, I stopped at Milford Mill and was surprised and excited to find a migrating Hooded singing at the FAR end (not middle as reported earlier) of the upper side of trail. This was my first Hooded at this location in the 3 years I've walked it. It sang for the entire hour I was there. I also found a dead garter snake that some dolt had killed. (Also came across a sunning black rat snake--alive and well--at Soldier.)

Note: a controlled burn resulted in the closure today of the bottom part of Serpentine Trail at Soldier's Delight. I don't know when it will re-open.

At SoDel, in addition to Hooded (2), Pine (3), and Prairie (many), I found Blackburnian (1), Black-Throated Blue (1 female), Black-and-White (2), Common Yellowthroat (2), Chat (2-3), Redstart (couple), Parula (several), Ovenbird (1), blackpoll (several), and chestnut-sided (1). Also a singing Swainson's Thrush, several Wood Thrush, a few Scarlet Tanager, couple Baltimore Orioles, Great-Crested Flys, Peewees, Acadians, Cedar Waxwings, White-Throated Vireo (1), and several Yellow-Throated Vireos.

And found an Acadian nest. I can probably direct anyone to it who is going to SoDel.
