In the 1970s Summer Tanager was a scare but regular breeder in the county. Two of the most reliable spots were Blockhouse Point, and Widewater, between Great Falls and Angler's Inn. By the time of the first MD atlas it had already started to crash I think, ahead of all the species that did so in the 1990s, such as Cerulean, Yellow-throated, Hooded etc.. The last territorial male that I knew about was at Widewater 2002-2005. I could not find it there after that.
