When the late shift* arrived around 5pm, the count was up to 3 Red-necked Phalaropes. A flock of Common Nighthawks flew high above the rapids as well.

To flesh out this report a little - First thanks to Jim Green for a great find, and Bob Ringler for alerting me to it when I was in the area after other prey.
So far out (but of course still in MD) were they that I did not spot them with 10x40's only; only a scope brought them to view. The 2 were dabbling at the surface happily together, not drifting far.
Also present, a surprise late C Loon, perhaps not in migrating condition judging from the dishevelled head plumage (tho' I should talk) which often denotes ill health in waterfowl.
At the Seneca pool, no Summer Tanager, but a nice ad Black-cr N-heron.
