I also had two red-necked phalaropes at Violettes Lock around 5:50 p.m. last night I had thrashed my way down to the river along a poison-ivy leg-grabbing trail. It looked like the birds were going upstream and by the time I had moved up the trail, I couldn't find them. I'm assuming that the best plan must have been going further upstream along the twopath but I had another engagement.
As I got back to my car, I looked up and saw two Common Nighthawks quickly flying down river.
The bedraggled Common Loon and four nattier Horned Grebes were also present.
