On probably my last morning birding my patch here, I had a flyover PEREGRINE FALCON at Ft. Bayard Park. I wish I had seen it a bit better, but there's really nothing else it could have been. It was flapping more than I'd expect, especially on a calm morning, but maybe it needed to gain some elevation to get over the hill. Tail was way too short for Merlin or Kestrel, and my overall impression of the size and body proportion were much bigger and heavier. A nice send-off on what was probably my last morning out there!

Otherwise the feeling was definitely of migration winding down--nary a warbler, but one singing Swainson's Thrush. And an interesting Red-eyed Vireo song with lots of mimicry and no pauses--while the overall rhythm and tone seemed vireo-like, I still felt compelled to track the bird down and confirm it wasn't a mimid of some sort.
